Solar eclipse setback + Brand new no-cost goodies drop today!

Hi Reader, Just a quick one from me today as I'm headed out shortly to check out the solar eclipse. Sadly, it looks like we're going to be experiencing a cloudy day here which really puts a damper on this lifetime event. However, even if it's viewed through heavy cloud cover, it's still dangerous to try to observe the sun during an eclipse, so if you're located somewhere within the path of the event, please take care. If you've been with me for awhile, you know I love taking photos. However, for this event, assuming that there will be a break in the cloud cover (and that's a big IF) because there are only a few minutes when the eclipse will peak, I thought I'd forget about trying to take photos and just experience the event. I know, I know...you're thinking to yourself, "Has Lara lost her mind? Did some alien inhabit her body? Did I stumble into the wrong newsletter? What's happening here?" 🤣 Normally I'd say yes to all the above, but in this case, I know that whatever photographs I take, there will be much better pictures available from professional photographers. And instead of spending the time trying to fiddle with gear and fumbling for my camera in the dark (and wearing heavily darkened glasses) - and probably ending up with nada - I thought I'd just take that time to experience the event. I feel like otherwise, I'm going to miss the whole entirely. Well ok, you know, I'm still going to try to take a couple of shots. But I don't have a solar eclipse filter so I'll be feebly trying to do that wearing those heavily darkened solar eclipse glasses, so that will be fun. Again, I might not have to worry about any of this as it's so cloudy out right now, I don't even know where the sun is without my handy app. My son is pretty disappointed and he's trying to get out of going. Nope. We're doing it! The next total solar eclipse for the Toronto area will not arrive for more than 100 years - until 2144. The next partial eclipse will sweep the skies on Jan. 14, 2029. If you end up witnessing the event today (especially if you're in the path of full totality or have clear skies), drop me a line.
