My trip down to the beach to see the full moon on Monday was a bit of a bust.
​
Yes, the moon came out and it was a clear night with great visibility. However, the high, gusty winds off the lake foiled my plans.
​
The night before, it was about eight degrees colder but it was a lot less windy so it actually felt warmer. I had read that the temperatures would be rising dramatically by the following day so I was expecting to have a more comfortable setting to take pictures but it turns out that wasn't the case.
​
This is why, as long as the weather calls for clear skies, I try never to skip a day as you never know what type of issues might attempt to sideline your plans. In this case, it was so blustery, even though we arrived twenty minutes before the moon was set to rise, by the time it finally did, we were frozen and were only able to watch the moon rise for approximately 8 minutes before calling it.
​
Lightweights? Perhaps. But sometimes you just have to know your limits, and being teeth chatteringly cold is mine.

At any rate, the pic above was one I took on Sunday. This was technically the night before the full moon but it was at 98.9% luminosity which is enough to make it count in my books.
​
I love that the moon is such a beautiful shade of pale pink. This was an unusual color and I especially love that I got to witness it while it was still bright out. As the days get longer, I know there will be more sightings such as these but it's still neat to see.
​
Next month will be the pink moon. I'm excited to see if it lives up to its name. 💗
